Well, that was some winter. Now that Spring has rolled around and the flowers are blooming, it's time for 33 Hawley Street to blossom a bit. We kept most of the building mothballed over the winter, but warmer temperatures will allow us to open up more areas of the building to special events during the Spring and Summer.

Dates to note:

Saturday, May 10 at 7:30pm -- Lisa Leizman Dance Company Spring Concert

Join the Lisa Leizman Dance Company for a spring concert in the new Arts Trust Building at 33 Hawley Street! A resident company of the Center for the Arts, the group has chosen a program featuring works old and new, audience favorites "All Blues," set to music by Miles Davis and "the secret that bamboo guards" with music by company composer in residence Andrea Kwapien. The performance will also include a new work, "some bird, perhaps," with music by Arvo Part. Ticket proceeds benefit the Northampton Community Arts Trust. The performance is followed by a festive reception featuring home cooking by members of the company.

All tickets at the door: $10 adults, $5 children under 10

Thursday through Saturday, May 15-17 at 8pm -- 'Skyscraper' by David Auburn, Directed by Chris Rohmann

On one rainy night, the lives of six people -- a preservation activist, a demolition contractor, a promiscuous young lawyer, a Navy dropout, a 110-year-old man and a suicidal young woman -- collide on the rooftop of a historic building targeted for demolition. A dark comedy about memory, coincidence, love and preservation, by the author of PROOF.

Opening night, Thursday May 15 pay what you can at the door, cash or check only. Friday & Saturday May 16-17, $15 general admission and $12 students online at Brown Paper Tickets.
Night of performance $20 general/$15 students at the door, cash or check only.

Sunday May 4, 10am - 1pm -- Strong backs, stout hearts redux

Winter may no longer be coming, but it sure left its mark. Once again we are looking for volunteers to help clean up around the building. General duties: trash picking, raking, hauling -- the usual attributes of a good Spring clean up. If you're willing to help, please drop a line to info@northamptonartstrust.org

We expect things to pick up over the next few months. Design plans are well under way; we expect to have a re-boot of the website up soon; and we hope to have a special announcement within a week or two. We will keep you posted.
