Donate Stock

Consider a gift of appreciated stock to the Northampton Community Arts Trust for the 33 Hawley Campaign. Following this process may help you avoid capital gains tax while helping to complete 33 Hawley Street and realize the vision of a community resource for creative expression.

Step 1: Consult with your tax advisor to determine what stock is the best for you to donate and for advice on any potential charitable deduction.

Step 2: Contact admin@northamptonartstrust.org to make known your intent to make a stock gift to the Arts Trust. We will supply you with the information your broker will need (brokerage firm, account name, number, and DTC number), and this will help us quickly process the donation and provide you with proper credit.

Step 3: Make a request to your broker to transfer the stock to the Arts Trust and advise admin@northamptonartstrust.org of the pending transaction, if you have not already done so. Do not sell the stock yourself or you may be subject to capital gains or other taxes.

The Arts Trust will provide you with a written gift acknowledgment that will serve as your receipt for tax purposes.
